书奕写的《万事如意》
第一次国外过年，原来思念的不只是亲朋戚友，也是节日的传统习俗，年菜的味道，更是和家人欢聚的气氛。2012年的农历新年落在1月23日星期一，在新年气氛冷清的美国没能和家人一起吃团年饭，幸好还有一班朋友在除夕夜吃年夜饭。
冷冷的冬天吃暖暖的火锅，当然温馨；却免不了想念远方的家人。
新年一定要有鱼

新的一年，他们可好？可会像我们想念他们一样的想念我们吗？
有一位来至佛罗里达州的老朋友还安慰我说，“是这样的啦，relak-lah。。。”“是啦，想一下就好，点到即止就收，然后把记忆锁上”。
另一位朋友更绝，叫我把Internet Radio 开了，让电台熟悉的声音伴着吃团年饭！说的也是，最近听电台听得更勤！

从小，我最喜欢过年，所以我怀念的何止是讨红包兴奋的心情？也是能够给红包的福气、放鞭炮、玩烟花、唱通天的新年歌、热闹拜年、张灯结彩的大街小巷；还有大家挤在热烘烘的屋里，准备年饼，大扫除忙得腰酸背痛怨言一大堆的心情。
下意识中，唯恐孩子忘了年的滋味和过年的意义，我们自然刻意营造，比平时做得更多。
从大扫除、制作糕饼，布置家里、办年货、写春联、寄贺年卡、到包红包，利用有限的物资，知识和经验，可以想到的都做足！大家为这一切忙得团团转的当儿，可以很阿Q的告诉自己：O，新年到咯，这是新春的气息！
说我传统也好，守旧也罢，就希望孩子们能像我小时后一样，对新年有期待！他们应该拥有对这种传统习俗的美好记忆。
有句话说得好：“春有百花秋有月，夏有凉风冬有雪；若无闲事挂心头，便是人间好时节”

hi Kwan Wei, I have been living in Germany for more than 12 yrs and I never really missed CNY until I stumbled upon yr blog:) My family in Malaysia will always have a 2nd reunion steamboat dinner with me & hubby during our annual visit in Malaysia, usually it is after CNY. I appreciate more the meaning of CNY only when I am in Germany. Frankly speaking, I used to hate CNY when I was in Malaysia long-long time ago. For me, your Nian in Houston is one of the best Malaysian CNY celebration at home in a foreign land. A big salute to you for keeping the CNY spirit and tradition in overseas. I have made my first ever pineapple tart rolls this year at home hoping that Ong will Lai xP. When I see your tarts I wanted to laugh as I have some of the same shapes too (easy version) after spending 2 hrs pressing the pastry with the plastic mold! Your kids are very lucky to have a mother like you! Happy, healthy and prosperous dragon year to you and your cute family.
CNY is one of my favorite festivals, not so much on food though，just the feeling of getting together with the loved one thrill me! That’s the memory I hope my kids will have, wherever they are, whoever they are with. Just hope this tradition can be sustained! Hahah，your comment of my failed pineapple tart and Kuih Bangkit are honest， another version of《书到用时方恨少》
I told my kids: 有得吃就好，不要嫌，明年我们会做得更好！
